Case Studies

At Alchemy Rich Solutions we offer a variety of technologies with the aim to optimize the recoup and recycling of precious metals. We can tailor and customize our technologies to your specific applications and challenges. Below you can find some examples of how we solved specific problems and developed just the right solution!

Electronic Waste Recycling

In this project we recouped precious metals (such as gold, platinum, silver, palladium, and others) from scrap electronics such as chips, motherboards, server components and phones.

case-studies-silicon-nitride

Etching of Silicon Nitrides

For this particular project we were asked to remove/etch Silicon Nitride from a variety of substrates in the photovoltaic production process. We were able to demonstrate our selective etching of Silicon Nitride without the use of Hydrofluoric Acid, which allowed the use of the stainless steel components between 10 to 15 times longer than the process that we replaced.

Glass Stove Tops

Our challenge in this project was to recycle and save glass electric stove tops while recouping as much of the coated precious metals, such as gold, platinum and palladium.

A novel process was developed utilizing our patented solutions and all steps were done in the same etching/processing tank, which limited the loss of precious metals, avoided the use of a high temperature furnace, obtained a minimum 99.9% purity and produced a scalable process for a variety of uses in-house rather than using a outside vendor.

LED Coating System Shields

Our challenge here was to process the shields used in coatings systems that deposit and manufacture LED lights to recover, recycle and recoup several layers of metal coatings.

Alchemy Rich Solutions surpassed the expectations of everyone by replacing an archaic and multi-step processing technology with a new two step process which produced optimum yields of the deposited precious metals at high purity, preserved the stainless steel shield substrates for re-use and recouped more precious metals to positively effect the bottom line of our customer. Mission accomplished!

case-studies-vacuum-coating-copper

Vacuum Coating System Shields - Copper

One of the largest producers of LED’s lighting products was sending physical vapor deposition (PVD) chamber precision shields and components that were coated with gold, platinum, and titanium depositions to a refiner.

Copper substrate was processed together with our new solution, and it was successful. We were able to yield gold bullions and platinum sponge to our client’s customer.

case-studies-optical-frames

Optical Frame Precision Parts

A potential client in the consumer optical frame industry requested a method to recoup precious metals and recycle precision parts from their products

Our demonstration went very well, and the client is currently considering the license of this technology from us, however, we are also open to any other firms who may be interested.

case-studies-microelectronics

Precision Microelectronic Shields

We were asked to recoup precious metals and recycle precision shields used in coatings systems for microelectronics.

Utilizing our new patent pending technology along with the use of new Alchemy Rich Solutions technology, we were able to recoup the gold and also obtained 99.99% gold purity.

case-studies-aluminium

Scrap Aluminium Components

Our client, a scrap house and recycler (company buying and selling tons of different scrap), asked our us to come up with a concept of etching silver from aluminum in order to recycle the silver.

We combined a widely used technology for etching silver with a new novel process for acquiring silver in metallic form. It does not require electrochemical purification and it does not require expensive furnaces to melt the metal powder into metallic silver.

case-studies-windows

Web Coating Plastic Strips

Our challenge here was to recoup precious metals that are deposited on plastic roll stock for use in architectural, electronics and window films. The production web coating substrates were rejected by the manufacturer because the roll stock often didn't meet specifications, was damaged or scratched, or cut-off in unsuitable sizes.

case-studies-precision-parts

Precision Parts - General Etching

Some of our clients were searching for concepts and ideas on how to etch different depositions from a variety of surfaces and substrates. We were able to utilize our new solution and some other resources to develop and customize a process for them.

We were also able to develop technology that recoups indium while bypassing electrochemistry and smelting. For more details, click below.

case-studies-indium-recouped

Photovoltaic Industry - Indium Recouped

One of our clients, involved in the cleaning of precision parts, asked us to demonstrate the ability to etch photovoltaic depositions of copper, indium, gallium (CIG) or copper, indium, gallium, selenium (CIGS) from aluminum and/or stainless steel precision parts and recycling indium out of the mix of the three or four metals.

case-studies-diabetes-strips-landscape-2

Diabetes Strips

A major medical manufacturer wanted to recoup and recycle gold from rejected diabetes circuit strips.

An inexpensive and fast solution to the problem was developed that fulfilled the manufacturer‘s requirements and provided a process where there was literally no gold loss, the plastic and the glue was stripped off within a couple of minutes, and the gold was smelted right afterwards.

case-studies-vacuum-coating

Vacuum Coating System Shields - Aluminum

For this project we were asked to clean vacuum coating shields for a thin film coating systems manufacturer in order to recover specific precious metals and to recycle the same shields for use again in their coating systems.

case-studies-crucible

Tungsten Crucibles

A large LED manufacturer wanted to clean tungsten crucibles used in a gold deposition physical vapor system. The goal was to not only recoup the gold, but to potentially reuse the tungsten crucible for further production.

Our new solution was again used to solve a typical production problem and with low cost but high gain of gold. The recoup was close to optimum and both our client and the end customer benefited from the use of our novel process.

case-studies-gold-PET

Gold on PET (Polyethylene terephtalate) Rolls

We were given the challenge to recoup and recycle gold from PET (Polyethylene terephtalate), where the gold layer is naked. The plastic strip with gold layer on top is used in the medical industry.

Our new solution was able to provide 52% to 45% higher yield in gold than the current supplier, while providing a certified 99.99% gold purity.

case-studies-white-goods-2

Shields on White Goods

One of our clients asked us to demonstrate deposition from aluminum coating system shields of a large white goods consumer products manufacturer.

Through our patented technology we were able to protect the aluminum substrate coating shields and remove the silicon and silicon oxides that are deposited.
